The main economic figures of ORIZONIA CORPORACION bear out its success story. These figures depict a positive, upward trend in terms of turnover, employment and profitability.
Over the last six years the growth of ORIZONIA CORPORACION has been constant, more than doubling its turnover. In 2008, the year of the great slump and plummeting demand, ORIZONIA CORPORACION’s consolidated turnover clocked up 2.54 billion euros, representing a growth of almost 5% on the previous year. The same year, 2008, was also marked by the launch of a new business line, the Luabay hotels and leisure business and the reorganization and promotion of the incoming tourism line under the smilo brand.
Despite the sector-wide downturn, the wholesale division put in a fine performance. Comprising 12 specialist tour operators, it can cope with any passenger journey from one destination to another, managing a high number of holiday packages and meeting client needs. Other business areas also proved to be buoyantly resistant to the recession; witness the 1,600,000 passengers carried by the airline division, the leadership of the online division (headed by Rumbo) and the strong positioning of Viajes Iberia, which has maintained and strengthened its extensive 700-office network. Thanks to the inputs of all its companies, ORIZONIA CORPORACION today provides a top quality service for over 2 million clients and trades in over 16 countries.
The multi-brand, vertical integration model, the quest for product differentiation and service quality and cost saving have all enabled ORIZONIA CORPORACION to keep up a positive trend in its ratios of efficiency, profitability and market share, despite the sector slowdown, especially in the second half of 2008. ORIZONIA CORPORACION looks forward to 2009 with the objective of consolidating its leadership position and rising to the ongoing challenges in the sector.
